AdventHealth Orlando is one of the largest hospital sites in Central Florida, which provides many opportunities to experience different aspects of pharmacy practice, including operations, management, ICU, and oncology. The experiences offered at this site are substantial and very valuable for student learning. I would especially like to highlight my preceptor, Barbara Ferreira. She works on the Neuro ICU floor and is truly dedicated to teaching students. She guided us through the rotation with clear expectations and goals to work toward throughout the HIPPE experience. I felt very welcomed and included in her daily workflow. She also did a great job explaining concepts, even when they were completely new to me.
Brief bio or Site description
I am a clinical pharmacist who thrives in fast‑paced, high‑acuity environments, especially where neurology, psychiatry, and critical care intersect. I’m passionate about bringing calm, clarity, and clinical precision to complex situations whether it’s supporting Neuro ICU patients, responding to neurologic or psychiatric emergencies, or collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to solve difficult clinical problems.
What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
I’m passionate about mentoring and precepting learners, helping future pharmacists build confidence, clinical reasoning, and a genuine love for patient‑centered practice.
What is a fun fact about you or the site?
Before pharmacy school, I played the violin for 15 years and was first chair of both my symphony and string ensembles.
