I would like to nominate Dr. Christian Johnson and Walgreens #3107 for the Preceptor/Site Spotlight due to their exceptional commitment to experiential education and patient care. During my rotation under Dr. Johnson, I was provided with a highly supportive and structured learning environment that emphasized both clinical knowledge and real-world community pharmacy practice. Dr. Johnson consistently demonstrated professionalism, approachability, and a strong dedication to teaching, offering constructive feedback and encouraging active participation throughout the rotation. A key strength of this experience was being allowed to engage in pharmacist-level responsibilities under supervision, including aspects of the prescription verification process such as pre-verification and final verification. In addition, I was given the opportunity to perform a wide range of pharmacist duties, including contacting providers for prescription clarifications, communicating with patients regarding medications, and administering immunizations. This level of involvement significantly enhanced my understanding of accuracy, safety, clinical decision-making, and workflow prioritization in a community pharmacy setting. The site maintained efficient operations while prioritizing patient safety and effective communication, creating an excellent learning environment. This experience significantly contributed to my growth and confidence as a student pharmacist.

Our Walgreens is a fast paced community pharmacy that emphasizes practical problem solving and honing patient communication skills.
What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
The focus is putting the students in situations that are just outside of their comfort zones where they have to think on their feet as if they are the pharmacist on duty. They are challenged to come up with solutions for preventing or solving medication issues. I am available to provide real time support and feedback.
What is a fun fact about you or the site?
I love cats!
