One of the best parts of this rotation was how amazing the team was. Everyone was so polite, friendly, and genuinely fun to talk to. It made coming in every day something I looked forward to. The environment was really positive and supportive, and I felt comfortable asking questions and learning from everyone. I would absolutely do this rotation again, and I could see myself working here one day because of how great the people and atmosphere are!

AHF offers high-quality HIV primary care, STD testing, pharmacy services, and more. We are currently the largest provider of HIV medical care in the world.
What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
Here at AHF we prioritize making sure our patients are never without their ARVs so we put a big focus on client retention through great advocacy and customer service. We use many different avenues to make sure that patients can obtain their medications at little to no cost to them. I always hope to give my students a well-rounded rotation in HIV care while also focusing on this advocacy piece. I want my students to go out in the world with a mindset focused on making sure patients get the treatment they need even when the odds are stacked against them.
What is a fun fact about you or the site?
In addition to our pharmacy, our location also offers free HIV testing, free Plan-B and Narcan, and is a fantastic thrift store where 96 cents of every dollar made goes into providing HIV services here and around the world
