I would like to nominate Dan for the Preceptor Spotlight to recognize his outstanding mentorship during my HIPPE rotation. From the beginning, Dan made genuine efforts to individualize my experience based on my interests and career goals. He actively encouraged me to explore the many different areas of pharmacy and made sure I had exposure to all the different areas that the hospital had to offer. Dan was consistently responsive, providing thoughtful feedback and insightful answers to all my questions. His depth of knowledge and willingness to tailor learning opportunities truly elevated my rotation to such a valuable experience and made a lasting impact on my professional growth.
Brief bio or Site description
I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 2015. I began my career as a retail pharmacist, where I practiced for four years before transitioning to a full-time hospital pharmacist role in The Villages during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. My professional interests lie in educating pharmacy students and serving the elderly population. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and providing students with exposure to concepts and experiences they may not encounter during traditional rotations, while also highlighting the diverse career paths available within the pharmacy profession beyond the typical retail and hospital settings.
What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
My philosophy is to offer students a broad range of experiences throughout their rotation, exposing them to the diverse roles and responsibilities within the pharmacy profession. At the same time, I strive to tailor each experience to align with their individual interests and career goals.
What is a fun fact about you or the site?
I also run a small residential construction company in my free time.
