What was your favorite part of this rotation?

My favorite part of this rotation was developing comprehensive Spanish-language pharmacy flyers, aimed at enhancing accessibility for Spanish-speaking communities. By translating complex pharmaceutical information into clear and concise language, I contributed to improving health literacy and patient engagement, ensuring that essential resources are readily available to those who may face language barriers. Also, attending a P&T committee meeting as this allowed me to understand the critical role that diverse perspectives play in optimizing patient care and medication management.

What advice do you have for pharmacy students preparing for rotations?

Embrace every opportunity to ask questions about patient care; this demonstrates your eagerness to learn and grow. At the end of each day, take a moment to reflect on your experiences—consider what you’ve learned and how you can improve. Maintaining a positive attitude is essential, as it will help you navigate challenges and foster a supportive environment. Focus on building relationships with your preceptors and fellow staff; networking can open doors to valuable opportunities. Finally, don’t forget to prioritize self-care by ensuring you get enough rest, eat well, and take time to unwind. This balance is crucial for your overall well-being during your rotations.

What are your plans after graduation?

I am currently exploring my interests within the field of pharmacy, which has left me uncertain about my plans after graduation. However, my goal is to pursue a path that ignites my passion, allowing me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of future patients. I aspire to find an area of practice where I can truly thrive and contribute positively to the health and well-being of others.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have a deep passion for birdwatching, which has not only enriched my appreciation for nature but also sharpened my patience and observational skills. This experience fosters mindfulness—qualities I consider essential for providing empathetic patient care and ensuring attentive clinical practice. Engaging with the natural world in this way enhances my ability to connect with others and respond to their needs thoughtfully.
