The student had this to say about Dr. Geis:

I would like my preceptor to be recognized for her outstanding mentorship during my oncology rotation in the infusion center. As a first-time preceptor, she went above and beyond to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Oncology can be such a complex and intimidating topic, but having her as my preceptor made it a safe and motivating space to learn, one where I never had to worry about always being correct. She turned every question and mistake into a meaningful opportunity to grow and encouraged me to stay curious. She pushed me to step outside my comfort zone, helping me build confidence in clinical topics I initially knew little about. She took the time to understand my learning style and adjusted her teaching approach to fit my needs, making every discussion engaging and impactful. Through her guidance, I learned not only how to think critically and approach patient care with confidence, but also how to communicate effectively and advocate for patients with compassion. Her genuine support and friendship made me feel valued as both a learner and a future colleague. She has truly helped shape me into a more knowledgeable, confident, and empathetic pharmacist, and I’m deeply grateful for her mentorship and all the opportunities at this site.

Brief bio or Site description

I received my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Saint Joseph School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Waterbury Hospital, both in Connecticut. For nearly a decade, I have worked as an Oncology Pharmacist at the AdventHealth Ambulatory Infusion Center, first at our Orlando campus and currently in Apopka. Our site is a 19-chair infusion center that treats approximately 45 patients daily, providing a comprehensive range of oncology and hematology therapies.

What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
Recognizing that students enter with varying levels of comfort in oncology, my goal as a preceptor is to ensure that every student leaves the rotation feeling confident and well supported in this specialty.

What is a fun fact about you or the site?
Apopka is the new standard state of the art infusion center for AdventHealth.
