Baptist Health South Florida
Emilie M. Collongette, PharmD, CPh, BCMTMS
The student had this to say about Dr. Collongette:
“Emilie made the past 6 weeks a great opportunity for me to self-reflect and provide clarity on my values/goals. The experience she provided me is foundational and one I will always keep with me. Emilie showed me how the ambulatory care field of pharmacy in particular extends beyond our clinical skills, revolving around the capacity to build relationships with our patients and colleagues and, just as importantly, a strong will to advocate for all patients. For every morning and afternoon I didn’t look forward to the drive to and from Miami, that thought went out the window the moment I walked into clinic because I knew I was going to learn something new every day. Emilie is an exceptional pharmacist, mentor, and person and I’m very grateful to have had this rotation with her as my preceptor. From clinical knowledge, to residency preparation, to professionalism, I learned more than I ever thought I would in just six weeks. I am very appreciative for all of the effort she put into making this APPE one that will shape my career.”

What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
To create the best experience for patients and students, I focus on personalized care and hands-on learning opportunities. For patients, this means providing tailored medication counseling, ensuring they understand their treatment plans, and addressing any concerns they might have. For students, it involves offering immersive clinical rotations, establishing clear goals, providing mentorship, and creating opportunities to engage in real-world healthcare settings. This ensures that both patients receive the best care and students are well-equipped for diverse roles in the healthcare field.
