Eric Linn Preceptor

The student had this to say about Dr. Linn:

“Dr. Linn has been a phenomenal preceptor. Before the rotation even began, he reached out via email to gauge my interests. He took my interests into consideration when developing my schedule and matching me with specialists in those areas. His style of precepting students and resident management is nothing short of servant leadership. Although he has administrative obligations to attend to, he has been right alongside me helping to evoke my thought processes and help improve my clinical skills. It is difficult to put into words how personable Dr. Linn is and the psychological safety he fosters for students and residents. He is a stellar example of how to lead, how to serve, and how to be a well-being ambassador. Moreover, all of the pharmacists at HRMC have been gracious in allowing students to follow them on rounds, answering questions on disease states and navigating the charting system, and providing opportunities for students to make interventions in patient care. The level of student integration into the workflow has been astonishing! Due to the collaborative nature of the clinical pharmacy staff and specialists, I have gained exposure to areas of pharmacy I have never considered.”

What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
My philosophy is to individualize the General Medicine rotation based on the student’s interests, leveraging the variety of learning opportunities that can be found at Holmes Regional. My goal is it provide students with a unique rotation where they can explore multiple areas of inpatient pharmacy, including those of key interests to the student and to best prepare them for whatever career they are pursuing, from residency, community, managed care, or industry. Additionally, we offer vetted research opportunities for interested students and have had great success with student research and presentations at ASHP Midyear and other conferences.
