From day one at the Viera VA, Dr. Griffin fostered a welcoming and supportive learning environment that encouraged growth and curiosity. The Viera pharmacy and provider team that I had to chance to shadow also allowed me learn about the patient care process and demonstrated the complexity of managing individual patient cases because there is no “one size fits all” solution. I appreciated how the team consistently took the time to explain clinical decisions and challenged me to get out of my comfort zone. Their compassion for patients and dedication to the pharmacy profession left a lasting impression on me. Thanks to Dr. Griffin’s mentorship, I feel more confident in my clinical skills and more inspired to pursue a career in pharmacy.
Brief bio or Site description
Dr. Fayza Griffin is a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner working at the Viera VA Outpatient Clinic. She is a Buffalo, NY native and was introduced into the pharmacy world in 2005. After 13 years of being a Pharmacy Tech, Dr. Griffin decided to pursue her Doctorate of Pharmacy, which was obtained from D’Youville University, in Buffalo, NY. Her passion is Primary Care working with Veteran’s to achieve their goals while using shared decision making. Outside of work, she loves to cook, eat and watch sports with her husband of 17 years and 13 year old daughter. Go Bills!
What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
I love to foster a welcoming and supportive learning environment with each one of my students. Watching the growth each day, and showing them different aspects of Pharmacy in addition to showing that treatments are not always a “one size fits all” which help create and shape the type of practitioner they want to be is my ultimate goal.
What is a fun fact about you or the site?
Each one of our clinics were named after a space mission.
