Jeremy Civarra Preceptor

The student had this to say about Dr. Ciavarra:

“My preceptor is not only knowledgeable, but he also constantly goes above and beyond. From being a role model of what work-life balance should be, to being a true resource to not only students but coworkers and managers as well; his clinical knowledge is superb and I believe he should be recognized for all of his hard work in not only being the best preceptor and teacher that any 4th year student would love, but also being a truly good hearted and genuine person. He demonstrates cultural competency as well as inclusiveness and respect to everyone he interacts with. He loves cats and is not afraid to show it! He travels and shares his experience. He remains professional even during casual conversation and it sets the culture of “I am here for you as a resource, not as someone to judge you or make you feel uncomfortable.” In my experience personally, he welcomes questions and works with students that do experience work-life balance issues. Lastly, Jeremy demonstrates full capability and understanding of what being an exemplary preceptor is.”

What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
I enjoy precepting pharmacy students on their Hospital Practice and General Medicine rotations. Watching the progression over time as they learn how to implement their book knowledge into clinical skills that benefit patients is a very rewarding feeling. I enjoy motivating the students to be the best pharmacist they can be, and try to be a mentor as they decide their future career goals.
