Maples, Katie

The student had this to say about Dr. Maples:

My rotation with Dr. Maples was an exceptional learning experience. She demonstrated deep expertise in her field and consistently took the time to explain complex clinical concepts with patience and clarity. Her dedication to teaching, approachability, and unwavering support created a truly enriching environment. I believe this was the most valuable rotation a student could hope for, and it will be difficult for any future experience to surpass it. Dr. Maples truly deserves recognition for her outstanding performance as a preceptor.

What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
I was very blessed to have wonderful pharmacists to train under as a student and resident and try to pass along that knowledge to the next generation of pharmacists. In pain management there are many possible answers when making recommendations, so I try to empower my learners by using their recommendations when possible and allow them to see the results of their interventions. I also feel that it is important to meet patients where they are, without judgement, and be their advocate when needed.

What is a fun fact about you or the site?
I am a huge Harry Potter fan and made Butterbeer when my student’s presentation fell on Harry Potter’s birthday.
