Brief bio or Site description
Ascension Rx Pharmacy conducts a variety of patient care services. We conduct meds-to-bed delivery services for discharge patients at Ascension St. Vincent’s Southside hospital. We also collaborate closely with outpatient clinics to serve their patient’s prescription needs. Student are exposed to many unique opportunities to gain valuable experience in multiple areas of pharmacy.
What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
My philosophy for students is to focus more on developing “soft” skills rather than “hard” skills. We all have the capacity to learn about medications. The difficult part is the ability to translate and communicate our pharmacy knowledge to our audience, being patients, healthcare professionals, or our team members.
What is a fun fact about you or the site?
Our pharmacy provides many services to help patients with their prescriptions, such as direct communication to providers and financial assistance programs.
