The preceptor had this to say about Melissa:
Pain Management- Reyna Chon
Melissa did an outstanding job during her rotation. Her exceptional performance, motivation, professionalism, organization, and technical proficiency made her a standout student. Melissa was accountable, requested projects when needed, and demonstrated curiosity and proactivity, which were excellent characteristics we encouraged her to continue to exhibit. We are more than confident that she would continue to excel in her future endeavors.
What was your favorite part of this rotation?
My favorite part of this rotation was the ability to initiate and monitor a patient’s journey from traditional opioids to buprenorphine under the guidance of my amazing preceptor, Shelley Stevens.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students preparing for rotations?
It is ok to be nervous on your first day of rotations. Show up with a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn from experts in their fields. This is your moment to test your knowledge and it is ok to learn from mistakes that occur along the way. Believe in yourself, you made it this far. You belong in this moment.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to apply for a PGY-1 Residency and continue onto a PGY-2 specialty to be determined. Stay tuned….
