Orlando VA Medical Center
Sheetal Sharma, B.S. PharmD
The student had this to say about Dr. Sharma:
“I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional experience I had during my first rotation at the Orlando VAMC. My preceptor Dr. Sheetal Sharma, her dedication, expertise, and mentorship played a significant role in shaping my growth as a future pharmacist. Throughout my time here, I was impressed by her ability to balance the demands of a busy schedule while still providing individualized attention and support to students. Her willingness to share the knowledge and insights was invaluable, and I greatly benefited from real-world examples and anecdotes. Her leadership and teaching style are exemplary, creating a supportive and inclusive environment that encouraged me to ask questions, think critically, and take calculated risks. Constructive feedback was always specific, actionable, and timely, which helped me to refine my skills and build confidence in my abilities. Dr. Sharma influence has not only improved my technical skills but also instilled in me a sense of professionalism, empathy, and passion for our profession. I feel more prepared to enter the workforce with confidence, knowing that I have had the privilege of learning from an exceptional preceptor and workplace. Without a doubt, I am grateful for this opportunity of working with a great team and serving those who served us. I will carry the lessons I learned here with me throughout my career and will strive to make an excellent patient care.”

What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
My philosophy on educating students is to make learning an enjoyable and valuable experience. In addition I feel its very important to treat our pharmacy students with respect. On my rotation, I want students to learn what it means to be a part of the pharmacy team and to help them develop the interpersonal skills required to make a successful team member in their future workplace setting.
What is a fun fact about you or the site?
I have started running half marathons in memory of my father, Krishan Sharma, who passed away in November 2022. I know he would be so proud that I have taken on this challenge and have put in the hard work and dedication that completing half marathons require. It has been an incredible experience!
