Vida Lopez Calderon

The preceptor had this to say about Vida:

CIPPE Rotation at Publix

“Ms. Lopez Calderon demonstrated a very high level of professionalism, solid knowledge base and went above and beyond to provide optimal service to my patients.  She administered over 60 moderna vaccines and more than 25 non-flu vaccinations.  Moreover, she took the time to provide empathetic counseling and was always inquisitive about any topic she didn’t know or was unfamiliar with. It was a pleasure to have Vida at my site.  Publix will have an open door and job for her whenever she wants it!!”

What was your favorite part of this rotation?

“My CIPPE rotation was a very eye-opening experience, as an intern I was able to see the importance of having a pharmacist in the community. Every day we were able to prevent an adverse event just by taking the time to talk to the patient. Despite the toll that the pandemic has had in our life, I am grateful that I had the opportunity to administer vaccines and prevent the spread of COVID.”

What advice do you have for pharmacy students preparing for rotations?

“Try to prepare yourself as much as you can before the rotation but remember that you are there to learn. Do not feel bad if you don’t know the answer sometimes. If you have a positive attitude and willingness to learn you will have an amazing CIPPE experience. Lastly, as corny as it may sound don’t forget to enjoy the process.”

What are your plans after graduation?

“My plan after graduation is to become a clinical pharmacist by pursuing a PGY1 and PGY2.”

What is a fun fact about you?

“My name means life in Spanish.”
