I would like to nominate Dr. Bozana Dragoljevic for the Preceptor Spotlight. during my rotation at the VA, she consistently went above and beyond in fostering a supportive learning environment, encouraging clinical growth, and modeling patient-centered care. Her dedication to teaching and passion for primary care pharmacy practice truly inspired me and

Brief bio or Site description

I graduated from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in 2022. I completed my PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake Nona and began working in primary care at the Daytona Beach VA Clinic in 2023. Within the VA, primary care pharmacists provide comprehensive medication management for chronic ambulatory care diseases to improve Veterans’ access and quality of care.

What is your or your sites philosophy on educating students and/or providing pharmacy services?
As a preceptor in ambulatory care, I believe in empowering pharmacy students to develop clinical knowledge and confidence through progressive learning and responsibilities. The rotation begins with observation, introduction to common primary care disease states, and an overview of clinical practice guidelines which prepares students for active participation in patient care. Each week, students build on the number of patient visits they perform where they are able to evaluate medication regimens and recommend appropriate interventions with supervision. Through direct patient interactions and interprofessional collaboration within the primary care team, students are able to develop strong communication skills as they navigate future rotations.
